The Saturday after Thanksgiving is Small Business Saturday and that evening in the downtown park... stay for the lighting of the town Christmas tree! The holiday season officially begins on Chincoteague and many shops will be open late to offer early holiday shopping. With hot chocolate, shopping, caroling, the Pony Drill Team and special guest Santa! Afterward, walk over to the Island Theatre and enjoy the annual free screening of "It's a Wonderful Life" sponsored by CIAO!
The Chincoteague Homes for the Holidays Tour

"Every house on Chincoteague has a unique story to tell." The Homes for the Holidays Tour is held on the same day as the charming old fashioned Christmas parade, so mark your calendars and start planning for a fun-filled holiday weekend! The Homes Tour is proud to dedicate the proceeds of the ticket sales this year to the Manna Cafe. Last year was a huge success (over 200 tickets sold) and we are looking to wow our guests again this year. 39th Annual Chincoteague Old-fashioned Christmas Parade
Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 6:00-9:00pm
The evening will begin at 6:00pm with 'The Saltmarsh Ramblers" performing in Robert N. Reed Downtown Park. Come early and enjoy the wonderful music until 7pm. At 6:30pm, there will be an invocation in front of the Chincoteague Island Library. The annual Chincoteague Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade will begin at 7pm, when the fire whistle blows. Fill the sidewalks on Main Street from Maddox Boulevard to the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company Fire House to see enchanting floats, bands, marching units, decorated boats, fire companies from across the Eastern Shore, equestrian teams, classic cars, and more. Keep an eye out for Santa too! After the parade's conclusion, the festivities continue at the Chincoteague Firehouse - at 4028 Main Street. Visit with Santa while enjoying refreshments served by the Kiwanis Club of Chincoteague. Cheer for parade participants when trophies are awarded by the Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce!

New Year's Eve Horseshoe Drop and Costume Promenade
The end of year celebration that culminates in a promenade of crazy costumes just before the countdown to midnight -- then the lighted horseshoe drops just in time to ring in the new year. To become totally immersed in the oddest of silly visual spectacles, head for the Robert Reed Downtown Waterfront Park around 10:30pm...Prizes will be awarded in various categories. Join us in celebrating St. Patrick's Day and the arrival of spring with 2 days of fun and prizes this year as you find shamrocks inside participating businesses on the island. Chincoteague's annual shamrock scavenger hunt – Search for the Shamrocks – occurs on the weekend closest to St. Patrick’s Day. This popular event sees residents and visitors alike go out and hunt for those green shamrocks... Don't forget to wear your green!

Music @ the Dock * Robert Reed Waterfront Park
Sponsored by Chincoteague Cultural Alliance. A series of public concerts performed each summer in Robert Reed Park along the Waterfront in Downtown Chincoteague. CIAO was incorporated in Virginia as a non-profit organization in December 2011 as a cultural arts center on Chincoteague Island to share film, performing arts, education programs, and other entertainment with the island community and its visitors.
